George Mielles-Mielles saw his first "Moving pictures" in 1895. He was influenced by the Lumiere brothers as they had shown the first cinematograph production in 1895, He loved it so much that he decided to make his own and on April the 4th 1896 George Mielles presented the first ever film screening, His first film was called "A trip to the moon". In 1896 he was filming when his camera jammed upon processing the film, He soon realised that he had created editing! He pioneered the first double exposure in 1898, the first split screen in 1898 and the first nude film. He abandoned film in 1912 because he was soon declared bankrupt, he was able to overcome this because his work was soon recognised by the french in the year 1920. This meant great things for Mielles as he was soon presented the award "The Legion of Honor." He was also given an apartment that was rent free for the remainding years of his life. He was known for making, directing, photographing and starring in over 500 films.

Edison made the films to help crerate a path to show the modern concept of editing contiuity helping people like D.W.Griffiths expand editing and create new ideas within the industry along the way. Porter was the mainstay of Edison film company and left in 1909 due to taking a senior production post with a series of independent workng companys. Porter soon rejoined Edison film company 6 years later in 1915 and stayed with them for the rest of his life creating and editing films.

With such an interest in editing Kuleshov started to explore the techniques of how editing was created and decided to play around with editing. From this he created the "Kuleshov effect" by discovering that you have to depend on how different shots are filmed and put together for the audience to have an emotional attachment to the shot they are watching. Soon Kuleshov turned his interests into American film directors, this angered the Russian government who stopped funding his films but in an attempt to find support for the war reinstated Kuleshov and allowed him to start making films again.

Sergei Eisenstein- Sergei Eisenstein joined up a Moscow theatre as a set designer, progressing this career he soon became a director. Eisenstein used his montage theory in a few films that he made, he made 7 films in his life being able to demonstrate films moving past the ninteenth century. He showed that his Montage theary created an absent concept with concreate images. Eisenstein died in his flat in Moscow in 1948 after suffering from a severe heart attack. He was a man who belived that film montage could create ideas or have an impact beyond the original images, he demonstrated the power of montage in his battleship productions, he created many things during his life including the illusion of perception of time.
